Discover Bogart's Smokehouse

If you find yourself in St. Louis and craving some of the finest barbecue around, Bogart's Smokehouse should definitely be on your radar. Nestled at 1627 S 9th St, St. Louis, MO 63104, this spot is a must-visit for anyone looking to experience what true smoked meats taste like. Known for its mouthwatering ribs, tender brisket, and a variety of other smoked delicacies, Bogart’s has earned a reputation as one of the best barbecue joints in the area.

From the moment you step inside, you'll feel the warmth of a place that knows how to do barbecue right. The cozy, no-frills atmosphere makes it the perfect place to dig into some serious comfort food. The smell of hickory and applewood smoke fills the air, setting the stage for a memorable meal. The real draw, though, is the quality of the food. Whether you're a seasoned barbecue lover or someone just starting to explore the world of smoked meats, there's something here that will delight your taste buds.

One of the standout items on the menu is the ribs. These tender, fall-off-the-bone beauties are smoked for hours to achieve a perfect balance of flavor and texture. The rub is a secret blend of spices that adds just the right amount of heat without overwhelming the natural flavors of the meat. Pair these with a side of creamy mac and cheese or some tangy coleslaw, and you’ve got yourself a meal that’s both satisfying and indulgent.

If you’re in the mood for something a little different, the brisket is another crowd favorite. Slow-cooked to perfection, each slice is rich and smoky, with just the right amount of fat to keep it juicy. The bark, a flavorful crust that forms on the outside of the meat during the smoking process, adds an extra layer of depth to each bite. Whether you choose to enjoy it on its own or in a sandwich, it’s clear that a lot of care and skill goes into making this brisket.

One thing that sets Bogart’s apart from other barbecue spots in the city is their dedication to sourcing high-quality ingredients. The meats are carefully selected and smoked with precision, ensuring each dish is packed with flavor. It's this attention to detail that has garnered the restaurant rave reviews from both locals and visitors alike.

In addition to the classic barbecue offerings, Bogart's Smokehouse also serves a variety of sides and desserts. The baked beans, for example, are a perfect blend of sweet and savory, while the cornbread is warm, crumbly, and delicious. And don’t skip the banana pudding for dessert-it’s the perfect way to end a hearty meal with a sweet treat that feels like a hug in a bowl.

What’s even better is that the restaurant offers a welcoming vibe for everyone, whether you’re dining solo, with a group of friends, or enjoying a family meal. The friendly staff always makes sure that you feel at home, offering recommendations and ensuring your experience is top-notch from start to finish.

The location at 1627 S 9th St also makes it easy to swing by while exploring the city. Whether you’re headed to a nearby event, walking around the historic Soulard district, or just looking for a great place to eat, this is a spot you won’t want to miss. For those who want to enjoy their meal at home, takeout and delivery options are available, so you can enjoy Bogart’s Smokehouse in the comfort of your own space.

Bogart's Smokehouse isn’t just a place to grab a quick bite-it’s an experience. With expertly smoked meats, tasty sides, and a welcoming atmosphere, it’s no surprise that this place continues to be a favorite among barbecue lovers in St. Louis. Whether it’s your first visit or your fiftieth, you’ll always find something to love here.

  • STL Gem...Best BBQ in St. Louis! Probably the best ribs l've ever had!! First ones into the door Sunday morning greeted with a welcoming smile at the door and at the ordering counter. I ordered the half-rib and burnt ends combo with baked beans and Deviled eggs potato salad sides mmmmm...I could smell the smoke flavor coming from the ribs and my mouth was watering instantly. The ribs were extremely meaty, juicy, and flavorful. I didn't even used the BBQ sauce that they had on the table. The ribs had just the right amount of smoke and a sweet, tangy flavor that was unforgettable. I've tried 3 other smokehouses ribs on my visit to STL and they pale in comparison. This is the type of food I expect from a specialty BBQ place. They know their craft well and deliver on it. 100% recommend!

  • I was 3rd in line at 1030 when they flipped the sign to Open. Glad I was because there were bodies behind me and a steady flow of large orders flowing out the door. The phone was ringing non-stop. This is the real deal. I grabbed a half rack and two sides. The sides were great, but unnecessary because it is so much food. That said the beans rocked and the potato salad was great even if unfinished. The ribs are the deserving star on my plate. So darn good. Have coffee across the street at Protagonist while you watch the door for that magic sign to flip to open.

  • The barbecue offerings at Bogart’s Smokehouse is fantastic! This place has been consistently ranked as one of the best BBQ joints in Missouri. I am still somewhat new to Saint Louis, but this and Pappy’s are my two Saint Louis favorites. I thought Pappy’s had the best ribs, but then my first visit to Bogart’s surprised me. Their ribs are amazing and so is their pork burnt ends. They also have fire & ice pickles that are surprisingly good for uncooked pickles. Beans also hit the spot. We received our food within 10 mins of ordering and a server brought it to our table. Service was very friendly. They do have limited seating both inside and outside when compared to other BBQ joints, so arrive early. The only significant challenge with this place is parking. They don’t have a public parking lot like Pappy’s or most BBQ joints, so paid street side parking is the only option.

  • Very casual joint, but they do it well. Got there at 1pm on a weekday and was one of the last fee to get the ribs, so come early! As the meats run out, they come off the menu for the day. Good prices, good portions, lovely staff! I had the cole slaw, beans, and half slab of ribs (enough for 2 portions!)

  • WOW - DELICIOUS!! We weren’t planning on stopping here, but found it when our plans changed - and we’re so happy we found it! This place is a 10/10 start to finish (I can only give five stars, though ). Nikki, who took our order, was awesome - super friendly and took time to answer our questions, provide recommendations, and checked in on us after we sat down…and she did that with the other customers too. The other staff members were very nice as well. We got the ribs, turkey, bogart beans, deviled egg potato salad, and the sweet & sour slaw - everything was OUTSTANDING, DELISH, YUM!! Our favorite BBQ sauce of the four available was the cranberry cayenne - sweet, a little tang, and a nice kick of spice. I definitely recommend if you’re a St. Louis local or visiting.

  • Best Ribs in St Louis, no contest. I have been here three times in the past two months and each time is like the first. For context, I have also tried Pappy’s and Dalie’s, Sugarfire, etc. This is by no means saying the others are not good but none come close to the quality and taste of Bogarts. These ribs are legitimately the best I’ve ever had. They are tender and fall off the bone with a perfectly caramelized crust that pairs extremely well their barbecue sauces. Their deviled eggs potato salad is also an absolute must get, it is one of the more unique sides I’ve had and tastes amazing. The fire and ice pickles, slaw, and baked beans are also very solid options. We were lucky enough to get their last order of burnt ends and smoked wings before they sold out. The burnt ends are also a must if you’re into barbecue. The smoked wings were smoked well and pairs well with their sauce. The atmosphere is very enjoyable and comfortable. Staff here are awesome and really make the experience an unforgettable one. Make sure to include Bogarts on your list of must try when in STL. You will not regret it!

  • Wow wow wow! Talk about the best BBQ… maybe anywhere? Awesome service, awesome food, great vibe. Such a great spot that we went twice in our 3 day trip to St. Louis. This is worth a 2+ hour drive.

  • Visiting from AZ - looking for great bbq. Found it!! 1/2 rack of ribs with beans and pickles. Fall off the bone deliciousness. Can’t wait to come again, early before they sell out of the burnt ends. Even though stuffed - also took home pastrami for later. Had to sample it and out of this world flavor. My new favorite bbq place in STL!!
